God has His plan. He is sovereign and He has the power and wisdom to accomplish what He wants. At the same time and within the framework of His sovereignty, God has the power and wisdom to accomplish whatever He wants. Within that plan of God, He allows Satan to try, test, and tempt mankind, attempting to draw men away from God. Satan does that through false doctrine of false teachers, who preach a false gospel. That’s not all though. Satan operates against God with his principalities, powers, rulers of darkness in this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. He uses that evil hierarchy to lure people into a false sense of security and procrastinate. In so doing, men harden themselves.
Resistance doesn’t help, especially long term, because as men experience light without receiving it, it hardens their hearts like the sun hardens mud or clay into impenetrable hardness. Scripture warns against procrastination. We don’t get right with God when we want to do that. This occurs when God allows us. People don’t have interminable opportunities.
Again and again, God commands everyone to watch and be ready. Proverbs 27:1 says, “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Hebrews 4:7 reads, “Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Many other verses in scripture read like these.
Jesus uses the analogy of day and night. He says in John 9 to work while it is day, because the night is coming, and then work will be over. Then you are just left with regrets. Don’t live a life of regret. Redeem the time. Pour your life into the eternal.
